Annotation As a young ensign in World War II, the author worked under J. Robert Oppenheimer on arming devices for the first atomic bombs. After the war it was his mission, as a principal founder of a high-technology company, to measure the effects of the A-bomb and H-bomb. This is an account of his experiences and his view that the concept of a limited atomic war is nonsense, and that any atomic war would be a disaster.
