Annotation |
Harry S. Truman was born in 1884 in Missouri. Because he wore thick glasses and loved to read, he was often teased by the other boys. After finishing high school he went to work because he could not afford college. In 1944, after serving in the Senate, he was elected vice-president. When President F. D. Roosevelt died in 1945, Truman became president. For grades 5-8 and older readers.
