Annotation |
Nancy Baker Wise was among the many women who stepped into jobs left vacant by World War II soldiers. She and her daughter interviewed 137 others like her to describe that experience. The women discuss the types of jobs taken, the training provided, the attitudes of male co-workers and supervisors, the effects on the women's homelife, and their displacement after the war.
