Annotation |
When he was forced to drop out of college during the depression, Smith found a job as clerk in a lumber camp in Maine's north woods. The outfit was primitive and the food was appalling. Smith collected the mail, helped with the horses, assisted the cook, and acted as general factotum. He also became involved with a woman and a local mystery. Strong language and explicit descriptions of sex.
