Annotation Eisenhower grew up in a small Kansas town. Although money was scarce, Ike and his five brothers enjoyed a happy childhood. When Ike was twenty-one, he enrolled in West Point. During World War II he became Supreme Commander of the Allied forces in western Europe, second only to Roosevelt and Churchill in power. He served as president from 1953-61.
