Annotation This true story is set in Wilcox Bend, a promontory of woods and farmland embraced by the Osage River in the northern Ozarks of Missouri. A blood feud erupts between two hitherto peaceful families in the 1920's, and it is the contention of Hadley Thompson, who approaches a local historian about writing his story, that the Ku Klux Klan was the cause of it.
